Juvenile prisoners from Kremenchug educational colony were tested for HIV and hepatitis

On October 25, 2017, juvenile prisoners of the Kremenchug educational colony had the opportunity to make rapid tests for HIV, hepatitis B and C and syphilis. They got such an opportunity thanks to the request of the colony administration to the Center, friendly to teenagers, “Altair” ( Public Health Fund).

Before the testing, employees of Altair Oleg Dymaretsky and Iryna Gumnaziy conducted a lecture for the youth. The boys learned more about the HIV infection, hepatitis and STI transmission, its diagnosis and treatment.

In general, the medical worker form “Altair” G. Tkachenko tested 37 boys of the colony. Each of them had a pre- and post-test counselling. The testing took place only with the consent of the prisoners.

The event was held within the framework of the project “Bridging the gaps: health and rights for key populations”, which is implemented with the financial support of AFEW-Ukraine.
