Youth advocacy coordinator

International Charitable Foundation “AIDS Foundation East-West” (AFEW-Ukraine) announces a competition for the position of Youth Advocacy Coordinator for the project “Connected for Change: Strengthening Civil Society and Youth Advocacy Across Ukraine.”

The project aims to strengthen civil society in Ukraine by building the capacity of non-governmental organizations and expanding the participation of youth and adolescents in civic life and decision-making processes. Particular attention is given to adolescents from vulnerable groups and young people from communities affected by the war. The project is implemented in Lviv, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, and Donetsk (Sloviansk) regions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of facilitators implementing the VoiceMore methodology (an approach to strengthening youth voice and participation in advocacy and decision-making) in Lviv and Kirovohrad regions.
  • Support to the Project Manager in the implementation of the VoiceMore (youth advocacy and participation), Reach Now (approaches to psychosocial support and youth resilience), and Community Tales (working with community stories and experiences to amplify youth voices) methodologies.
  • Development and support of a youth community that will implement advocacy campaigns at the local level and be engaged in leadership project development.
  • Ensuring visibility and promotion of youth advocacy campaigns among national and international stakeholders.
    Support to youth teams in planning and implementing youth initiatives in cooperation with the Project Manager.

Experience and qualifications

  • Higher education.
  • Experience working with adolescents and youth.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience interacting with public authorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

Working conditions

  • Full-time position.
  • Work format: hybrid — office in Kyiv and online (schedule to be agreed with the selected candidate).
  • Possible work trips to Lviv and Kirovohrad regions.

Contract duration

Until the end of 2027, with the possibility of extension subject to funding availability.

AFEW-Ukraine is a non-governmental humanitarian public health organization registered in Ukraine since January 2001.
We work with young people, including adolescents from vulnerable groups (those with experience of psychoactive substance use, internally displaced persons, those in difficult life circumstances, those with limited access to services, or belonging to other vulnerable communities), and implements programs and activities in harm reduction, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), HIV prevention, as well as stigma and discrimination reduction.
