Beyond Trauma: Scaling Up Community Mental Health Care for Children and Youth at Risk in Ukraine’s Conflict Affected Communities
Led by War Child Alliance, the project is implemented in collaboration with four consortium partners: Aids Foundation East West AFEW Ukraine, Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation (USSF), MdM Netherlands, and MdM Greece. The project is funded through the Ukraine Partnership Facility (UPF), a program from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) commissioned by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Project Goal:
To strengthen ongoing mental health reform efforts in Ukraine by integrating evidence-based services into primary healthcare and community settings, focusing on trauma and distress treatment, particularly among young people.
Expected Outcomes:
- Strengthening healthcare facilities at the community and primary care levels, enhancing the knowledge and skills of healthcare providers in delivering psychosocial support, and modernizing facilities.
- Improving community well-being through innovative interventions—specifically scalable, evidence-based psychological methods focused on supporting children, youth, and caregivers.
- Reducing barriers to mental health care access, including stigma reduction and raising awareness about the causes and consequences of mental health challenges.
