{"id":4863,"date":"2015-12-18T10:53:08","date_gmt":"2015-12-18T10:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/afew.org.ua\/problemi-vikliki-ta-podalshi-perspektivi-narkozalezhnosti-v-gruziyi-2\/"},"modified":"2015-12-18T11:13:53","modified_gmt":"2015-12-18T11:13:53","slug":"problems-challenges-and-future-prospects-of-drug-dependence-in-georgia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/en\/problems-challenges-and-future-prospects-of-drug-dependence-in-georgia\/","title":{"rendered":"Problems, Challenges and Future Prospects of Drug Dependence in Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On December 7-8 <a href=\"http:\/\/new.tanadgomaweb.ge\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tanadgoma \u2013 Center for Information and Counseling on Reproductive Health<\/a>\u00a0organized the final conference of <a href=\"http:\/\/afew.org.ua\/en\/project\/bridging-the-gaps-health-and-rights-for-key-populations-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bridging the Gaps<\/a> project \u201c<strong>Drug dependence \u2013 problems, challenges and future prospects<\/strong>\u201d in Tbilisi.<\/p>\n<p>The main goals of the conference were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To summarize the results of the project;<\/li>\n<li>To discuss existing services, needs and problems in three directions: human rights, health issues and psychosocial rehabilitation of people using drugs (PUDs);<\/li>\n<li>To strengthen cooperation between governmental and non-governmental organizations;<\/li>\n<li>To promote rehabilitation programs of PUDs;<\/li>\n<li>To identify future challenges and prospects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The two-days conference united representatives of more than 20 international and national organizations and initiative groups from all over Georgia.\u00a0In particular the employees of Ministry of Corrections, Penitentiary Department, National Center for Disease Control and Public Health and Ministry of Interior took part in the conference. On behalf of the project donor \u2013 Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, <strong>Jos Douma<\/strong>, the Ambassador of of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Georgia, opened the meeting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4852 size-large lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"http:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"DSC01344\" width=\"860\" height=\"574\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-260x173.jpg 260w, https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-1200x800.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4852 size-large lazyload\" src=\"http:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"DSC01344\" width=\"860\" height=\"574\" srcset=\"https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-260x173.jpg 260w, https:\/\/afew.org.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DSC01344-1200x800.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Implementing partners from Georgia \u2013 Center for Information and Counseling on Reproductive \u2013 Tanadgoma, <a href=\"http:\/\/bemonidrug.org.ge\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bemoni Public Union<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/tolerorganization\" target=\"_blank\">NGO \u201cThe World of Tolerance\u201d<\/a> told about the main features and main achievements of the project \u201cBridging the Gaps: Health And Rights For Key Populations\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The Conference is the final event of the project where the organizations involved in its implementation, as well as their partners from the non-governmental and governmental sectors evaluated its achievements, successes as well as difficulties that were overcome in the past four years<\/em>,\u201d \u2013 said Nino <strong>Tsereteli<\/strong>, Executive Director of Center for Information and Counseling on Reproductive Health \u2013 Tanadgoma. \u201c<em>Besides, the conference served as an important milestone in the overview of a full picture of existing services for PUD, their needs in three areas \u2013 health, psychosocial rehabilitation and drug policy, and the rights of PUD. As a result, perspectives for work and advocacy in the near future were outlined.
