Call for concept note within the project “Bridging the Gaps: Health and Rights for Key Populations”

International Charitable Foundation “AIDS Foundation East-West” (AFEW-Ukraine) encourages civil society organizations, registered in Georgia, to submit concept notes for small projects aimed at addressing the needs of women who use drugs. This activity is a part of the project “Bridging the Gaps: Health and Rights for Key Populations”.  Deadline for submission of concept notes March 22, 2019.

Background and project description

Bridging the Gaps is a multy country project working towards fulfilling three long-term goals:

  • A strengthened civil society that holds governments to account;
  • Increased fulfillment of human rights of key populations;
  • Improved SRHR and fewer HIV transmissions.

In Georgia, the project is being implemented since 2012 and focused on people who use drugs (PWUD). The second phase of the project started in 2016 and will finish in 2020.

Due to the fact that women who use drugs are one of the most stigmatized populations in Georgia AFEW-Ukraine is looking for new partners that would be able to contribute to improving access to services for women who use drugs and reducing stigma and discrimination.

Target group: women who use drugs

Priority areas (one or more priority areas can be chosen):

  • provision of direct services for women who use drugs focusing on reducing drug related harm, improving sexual and reproductive health and rights;
  • empowerment and mobilization of women who use drugs community;
  • advocacy and fulfillment of human rights of women who use drugs;

Final date of concept submission: March 22, 2019.

All participants will receive answers from AFEW-Ukraine by March 29, 2019. All successful participants will be invited to submit full project proposal by April 12, 2019.

Maximum amount: 13 000 Euro

Duration of the project: by December 31, 2019 with possible continuation of cooperation in 2020.

Who can apply: civil society organizations, working in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention, sexual and reproductive health and rights, human rights promotion, advocacy and community mobilization for/among women who use drugs officially registered in Georgia. Community based organizations will have a benefit.
